Wikki Tourists edge Enyimba, Rangers held to draw as MFM regain top spot
Embattled Nigeria Professional Football League side Wikki Tourists grabbed a late goal to beat Enyimba 1-0 in the matchday 16 clash at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium (ATBS) in Bauchi on Wednesday.
The only goal of the game was scored by Victor Alegbe who headed in from a corner in the 85th minute.
But reigning champions of the NPFL, Rangers International, continued their poor run this season as they were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Remo Stars.
The Flying Antelopes got ahead after Daniel Etor scored in the 14th minute, but Remo equalized in the 50th minute through Ekene Awazie in the tie that held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
Elsewhere, the League’s leading goal scorer, Stephen Odey, scored his 13th league goal of the season to help MFM FC regain the top spot of the table with 30 points after they defeated Abia Warriors 2-1 at Agege Stadium.
Odey opened scoring in the fourth minute, with Olatunbosun doubling MFM’s lead on the half hour mark; but couldn’t get the clean sheet as an 84th-minute goal by Sunday Adetunji consoled the Abia side.
