The Nigerian Senate has screened 24 of the 43 ministerial nominees President Muhammadu Buhari sent to it on Tuesday.

The screening continues today (Friday) as the upper chamber of the federal lawmakers, still has 19 nominees to screen.

The Senate had on Wednesday, a day after it received the list of the nominees from Buhari, screened 10 of them. On Thursday, the second day, the lawmakers were able to screen 14 more and have already listed about eight more nominees for screening today.

Among those listed to be screened include the former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (Kebi), Sen. Hadi Sirika (Katsina), Clement Anade Agba (Edo), Alhaji Lai Mohammed (Kwara), Mrs. Pauline Tallen (Plateau), Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi (Sokoto), Goddy Jedy-Agba (Cross River) and Engr. Sulaiman Holds. Adamu (Jigawa).

Nominees earlier screened on Wednesday were Uchechukwu Ogah (Abia), Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), George Akume (Benue), Ogbonnaya Onu (Ebonyi), Emeka Nwajuaba (Imo), Olorunnimbe Mamora (Lagos), Olamilekan Adegbite (Ogun), Adamu Adamu (Bauchi), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) and Sharon Ikeazor (Anambra).

Those screened on Thursday were Tayo Alasoadura (Ondon), Mustapha Shehuri (Borno), Abubakar Aliyu (Abubakar Aliyu), Bashir Magashi (Kano), Timipre Silva (Bayelsa), Ramatu Tijani (Kogi), and Adeniyi Adebayo (Ekiti), Zubairu Dada (Niger), Chris Ngige (Anambra), Abdullahi Hassan (Nasarawa), Sunday Dare (Oyo), Muhammad Bello (Adamawa), Sadiya Farouq (Zamfara), and Zainab Ahmed (Kaduna).

Of the 24 so far screened no less than 14 were asked to take a bow and go. While 10 of the 14 screened on Thursday took a bow and left, about four also did same on Wednesday.

While some of them, like former federal lawmakers merited the Senate tradition of ‘take a bow’, there were some who apparently did not merit it. On Thursday, the 9th Senate had even asked a nominee to take a bow because ‘his is loyal’ and that his brother is a former senator.

The development has seen some senators fuming.
