Governor Nyesom Wike has told the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, that he was disappointed with the Nigerian police for withdrawing his Chief Security Officer (CSO) over allegation of misconduct.

The governor reiterated his earlier statement that his life is in danger owing to the sudden withdrawal of his CSO, by the Police chief, adding that it was unfortunate that the office of the IG could say that his CSO was withdrawn over alleged wrongdoing.

Wike stated this when IG of Police, Idris paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Port Harcourt. He called on the police boss, to ensure an Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in the state Police Command, Mr Steven Hasso and the Commander, Special Anti-Robbery squad (SARS), Mr Akin Fakorede were redeploy over allegations of being unprofessional in their operations.

He then urged the police IG to work against the idea of police politicising security issues during the elections, advising that police should try and be professional during the elections.

Speaking, Idris said he was in the state to see that every security measures were in place for a free and violence free rerun elections in the state.

This was not the first time Wike is raising an alarm over his life being in danger. He had accused police in the state of threat to his life and conspiracy with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the rerun election in the state for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
