Woman cries to court, for 11yrs I’ve been enslaved, end my marriage

Housewife, Mrs Grace Olorunfemi, on Wednesday, with eyes full of tears, urged a Customary Court sitting in Akure to dissolve her 11-year-old marriage to save her from slavery.

According to her, she has been enslaved in her marriage with Abiodun and allowing her to continue in the union would only amount to perpetual servitude.

“I prefer to be single than continue to live with Abiodun. He thought I am in his house as a slave,’’ Grace told the court, adding that her husband failed to repent after her several complaints about his behaviour.

The husband, however prayed the court not to separate them and promised he was going to change and become a responsible husband.

The President of the court, Mr Rotimi Olusanya, adjourned the case till November 17.
