Why Gov Ambode sacked commissioners, more to go

The Elejigbo of Langbasa town in Lagos, Oba Hafeez Badiru, has lamented the absence of public secondary school in Langbasa, while pledging to commit to the pursuit of the establishment of public secondary schools in the community.

The Oba, who is the first crowned king in the history of Langbasa community, revealed his educational plans during his coronation ceremony. The traditional ruler stressed the need for a secondary school to be established and urged stakeholders to embrace the idea of sponsoring education programmes that would bridge the education gap in the community.

The traditional ruler said, “The importance of education to growth and development cannot be overemphasized, let us sponsor programmes that will promote education. Please, endow scholarships and awards for different categories of skills, re-skilling and up-skilling. Doing this, no single indigene or indigent in Langbasa will be left out in formal and informal education.

“My administrative strategy will include an open-door policy and everyone shall have opportunity to contribute his or her own quota. We shall re-position Langbasa town, facilitate socio-economic developments, encourage cultural rebirth, improve our traditional status, propagate and develop Langbasa tourism potentials and maximize her human and material resources for the benefit of the community”.

Confirming steps already being taken by the traditional ruler to forestall further educational backwardness, Tanimola Elegbede, a community chief, affirmed that the oba had begun talks with the Lagos State Ministry of Education to address the issue swiftly.

“The Oba, once being a sole administration, knows what to do to achieve that (education development), he is engaging the Lagos State Ministry of Education and some other authorities, trying to harness the needed resources to establish a secondary school in Langbasa”.
