Worst mistake any presidential candidate would do is pick Fayose as vice, Sen Kashamu argues

Senator Buruji Kashamu has described as a serious risk any presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to contemplate using Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose as a running mate.

According to the senator who represents Ogun East at the Senate, it is only an unreasonable person who will choose Fayose as a running mate.

He added that such an action will amount to the politician endangering his life.

Kashamu’s comment is coming on the heels of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s recent visit to Fayose and m insinuations in some quarters that he (Atiku) is considering having Fayose as his running mate in 2019.

Apparently in response to that and Fayose’s boast of becoming a president in 2019, Kashamu was quoted to have said during an interview with newsmen on Tuesday that no reasonable person would pick Fayose as a running mate.

The senator said, “He (Fayose) is going nowhere. In fact, no reasonable presidential candidate will pick a cantankerous and inordinately ambitious person as his running mate.

“Any presidential candidate who picks Fayose as his running mate endangers his life should he win. Since he fraudulently took control of the party structure in the South-West, what has he been able to do with it? Nothing!

“He is fighting the political battle of his life to install another of his stooge as his successor, in the face of stiff opposition from within. In a couple of months, the forthcoming Ekiti governorship election would put a lie to his claim of invincibility and uncultured disturbance of our political space.”

Expressing support to the leadership style of Prince Uche Secondus, Kashamu said that Fayose has been feeling disapointed because the present PDP leadership has ignored scheme allegedly orchestrated by the Ekiti State governor to suspend or expel him (Kashamu) from the party.

He said, “It is gladdening that the party is now in the hands of true partymen and administrators like Prince Secondus and his team, who are being assisted by the very refined countryman, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson. As experienced politicians, they know that we need one another to build a strong and virile party.”
