Yemi Alade is most watched African woman on YouTube

Energetic Nigerian pop singer, Yemi Eberechi Alade, better known as Yemi Alade, has just set a new record by an African woman on YouTube.

The singer and songwriter who first gained national prominence after she emerged winner of the Peak Talent Show in 2009, has created a record as her 2014 hit song ‘Johnny’ has just become the most watched music video by an African woman on YouTube with over 70 million views.

As at the last count, Yemi’s three-year-old song on YouTube had no less than 72,765,532 views.

As a result of this, the video streaming platform, has certified the music video directed by industry’s highly rated cinematographer, Clarence Peters, as the most watched video uploaded by an African woman.
