Yobo Testimonial: Ideye rues absence as Enyeama, Emenike arrive

Olympiacos of Greece striker, Brown Ideye, has rued his inability to be part of the Joseph Yobo Testimonial billed for May 27 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, due to national team assignment.

“I really wanted to play. I had called and made enquiries last month concerning this particular game (Yobo Testimonial) because I didn’t know I would be invited to the national team,” he said.

“I was like let me come home with my family, play the game and then go to the United States of America for holidays with my family, but I got called up.”

He added: “I was really looking forward to the game, to play for him because I played under him and he is a very good guy and it would have been a great honour to support him.”

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and ex-striker Emmanuel Emenike at the weekend arrived in Nigeria for the Joseph Yobo Testimonial.

Both players confirmed their availability for the game which will also feature Chelsea captain John Terry and former African footballers of the year, Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba as well as former Everton manager, David Moyes.

Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel and his assistant, Ahmed Musa, were released by the Nigeria Football Federation from Nigeria’s international friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg to honour Yobo who played 100 matches for the country.
