Zaha banned, fined for sarcastically applauding referee

Crystal Palace forward, Wlfried Zaha has been banned and fined for sarcastically applauding matchday referee.

The Ivory Coast star was penalised by an Independent Regulatory Commission, and has accepted a charge of improper conduct.

Zaha was fined £10,000 for the incident, and will therefore miss Palace’s FA Cup fifth-round match on Sunday.

The 26-year old sarcastically clapped referee Andre Marriner after being sent off during their game against Southampton.

He aleeady missed Palace’s 2-0 Premier League win over Fulham on 2 February, but failed in his appeal against an additional one-match ban.

Doncaster host Palace in FA Cup this Sunday.
