Zamalek shock Enyimba 1-0 in CAF Champions League

Nigeria champions, Enyimba started their CAF Champions League group stage on a sad note as they lost 1-0 at home to Zamalek of Egypt at the weekend.

The game almost suffered a postponement after heavy downpour in Port Harcourt nearly rendered the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium unplayable, but the referee gave the go ahead for the game to be played.

With the waterlogged pitch making passing impossible, the visitors took the lead with just seven minutes into the game, a goal they defended till the end of the game as they ran away with 1-0 victory.

All efforts by the home team to get a goal proved abortive as Zamalek defended with their life and will be going back to Egypt with three points.

The victory put Zamalek joint top in Group B alongside Sundown of South Africa who also socked El Setif of Algeria 2-0on Saturday.

Enyimba will be away to Sundown in their second game while Zamalek will welcome El Setif to Egypt.
