ZAMFARA: APC accuses Gov Matawalle of needless borrowing of N70bn in 5 months

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has accused Governor Bello Matawalle of borrowing the sum of N70 billion in less than five months from various commercial banks without any need to justify taking such a huge loan.

This was revealed on Saturday by the Publicity Secretary of APC in the state, Hon Ibrahim Damaliki Gidangoga while he was addressing newsmen in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

Gidangoga claimed that he has proof of all the money that was borrowed since Matawalle became the state’s governor in May 29, 2019, and also challenged the PDP government in the state to show what it has done with such whooping sum of money collected in the name of the state for developmental purposes.

”I am telling you with all sincerity that Matawalle knows right inside his mind that what is going on in Zamfara State is not democracy but demonstration of craziness,” he said.

According to the former Commissioner of Information, Matawalle has been shifting his faults on Senator Abdulaziz Yari to cover his weaknesses because he knew that he has failed already.

He said it was not the first time that the governor was accusing the former governor wrongly without any evidence to back his claims, stressing that this time, he said the ex-governor should not venture to enter the state otherwise he would arrest and prosecute him.

“Recently, the governor accused the former governor of negotiating with Boko Haram insurgents to invade the state. He should know that Yari has governed the state for eight years before Matawalle.

“Governor Bello Matawalle should know that he never won election in Zamfara State but was enthroned by the Supreme Court.

“How can Matawalle boast that he has ended terror attacks in the state within 100 days if the PDP members are not the sponsors of the banditry in the state? A sensible person should ask why banditry ended suddenly with the coming of PDP in the state,” he pointed out.
