ZAMFARA APC RULING: ‘Gradually, the House of political injustice APC built will collapse on their head’- CUPP

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has commended the judgement of the Appeal Court sitting in Sokoto which nullified the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State.

CUPP also applauded the Federal High Court, Abuja, for rescinding the order restricting INEC from continuing the collation of governorship election result from Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, stating that the development had open room for official declaration of the winner of Bauchi State Governorship election.

The party’s spokesman, Ikenga Ugochinyere, in a statement CUPP said with the court’s decision, “Gradually, the House of political injustice APC built will collapse on their head.”

It was earlier reported that the court gave the ruling on Monday in a suit filed by Sen. Kabiru Marafa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream) and 129 others, with Mr Mike Ozekhome (SAN) as their lead counsel.

Joined in the matter as respondents are Kabiru Liman-Danalhaji and 139 others represented by Mr Mahmud Magaji (SAN) as lead Counsel.

Justice Yakubu, who led judgment on Monday, ruled that the lower court failed to evaluate evidence before it before producing the judgment that produced the party’s candidates for the governorship, National and State Assembly elections.

Speaking on the Bauchi governorship case, CUPP said, “The road is now clear for the official declaration of Senator Bala Mohammed as the People’s Governor-elect for Bauchi State.”

“This ruling is a huge victory for our constitutional democracy and an end to the shameful attempts by enemies of our constitutional governance to use the court to ambush and deny the Bauchi people their constitutional right to see the man they elected sworn in as their governor.

“The Buhari APC shameful legacy of attempting to use the court to halt constitutional electoral process must be condemned by all Nigerians,” he said.
