The Zamfara State government led by Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has confirmed two new cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Governor Matawalle in a series of tweets on his Twitter page on Sunday expressed readiness to fight the disease as his comments came after the NCDC confirmed new cases of infection in the country.

He said, “I regret to announce the occurrence of 2 cases of #COVID-19 in our state. On this note, I’d like to strongly advise our people to adhere to all safety guidelines.

“I’ll Inshaa Allah communicate further measures our Government will take against the spread of the disease.

“Since December 2019, humanity has been challenged by an invisible enemy; an enemy that infiltrates our state on the 1st day of our holiest month.

“My Gov’t is committed to this fight & I believe our diligent citizens will observe safety rules & pray harder to defeat this enemy.”

This comes after the state government informed that it has started the screening of Almajiris sent to the state after they were evacuated by the Kano State government.

Governor Matawalle who made this known on Thursday while addressing newsmen in the state said that adequate arrangement has been made to absorb Zamfara returnees during the Ramadan period.
