Zamfara suspends another traditional ruler over banditry

The Governor of Zamfara State, Mohammed Matawalle, has again suspended the District Head of Gummi, Alhaji Abubakar Bala Gummi (Bunun Gummi), who is a senior district head in the state, over allegations of complicity in the activities of bandits.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs and General Services, Alhaji Aliyu Bello Maradun, adding that allegation were leveled against him on the issue of banditry.

“Alhaji Abubakar Bala Gummi is suspended with immediate effect, pending the investigation of the alleged act of misconduct arising from the recent killings of innocent people of Karaye village,” the statement said.

It would be recalled that about 14 people were killed in Karaye Village by suspected Fulani men who were said to be on a reprisal attack after vigilantes killed 9 Fulanis who were believed to be bandits.
