ZLP denies endorsing Peter Obi as presidential candidate for 2027
The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has described as lies from the pit of hell, social media reports that it has adopted presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi as its sole candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Khalid Arewa, on Sunday, described the insinuation as mere rumors and figment of the imaginations of the peddlers.
The party said, “ZLP wishes to address a misleading publication circulating on various social media platforms including X (former Twitter) which falsely attributes to our party an offer of a free ticket to Peter Obi for the 2027 presidential election.”
According to ZLP, “The said handle where this misleading information was posted is unknown to us. We do not control that account neither do we have any association with the handlers of that account.”
“We categorically deny this claim in its entirety and affirm that the statement does not reflect the views, decisions, or position of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP),” It added.
The ZLP stressed that, “Our Party’s Leadership and decision-making processes are guided by our Constitution, principles, and values, which do not accommodate such frivolous and unfounded claims as we have no such arrangements with anyone on any issues related to false claims.”

The Spokesperson stressed that, “Again, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) is yet to commence discussions with anybody or groups relating to 2027 Presidential Elections, therefore, the said publication is a big lie from the pit of hell.”
The party warned that, “We therefore warn those who want to cash in from the envious position of ZLP to desist from doing so or we fish them out and hand them over to the security agencies.”
He stressed that, “The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) is a responsible and law-abiding political party committed to promoting democracy, good governance, and the well-being of all Nigerians.
“We urge the general public to disregard this misinformation and to rely only on official statements from our party’s authorised channels. Please be guided accordingly.”
