Embattled South Africa leader, President Jacob Zuma is refusing not to go down without a fight after the top leadership of the ruling African National Congress gave him 48-hours to leave office with no deal over transition of power.

Zuma who is expected to issue a statement later on Wednesday has refused to resign after the party asked him to step down with police in Johannesburg reported to have raided a luxury home of the Gupta family, an Indian immigrant businessmen family that lies at the heart of corruption allegations levelled against the incumbent South African President.

Meanwhile, the ANC’s treasurer-general Paul Mashatile said on Wednesday that the ruling party will support a motion of no-confidence brought by an opposition party against Zuma on Thursday if the president does not resign.

The party’s chief whip Jackson Mthembu added that the ANC hoped to elect party leader Cyril Ramaphosa as president of the country on Thursday, after the no-confidence vote, or on Friday.
