​CLEAN SWEEP! Nigeria win all four gold medals in ​para-​powerlifting at C'wealth Games

​Team Nigeria dominated the para-powerlifting sport at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia after sweeping clean the four gold medals in all categories of the events on Tuesday.

​Abdulazeez Ibrahim ​won the fourth​ of ​the gold​ medals as he emerged tops in the men’s heavyweight category at the Gold Coast ​competition.​

Ibrahim made a lift of 191.9kg to finish ahead among a field of 10 contestants​, while t​he silver and bronze ​medal​s​ ​respectively ​w​ent to​ Yee Khie Jong from Malaysia w​ho​ lifted 188.7kg​ and​ India’s Sachin Chaudhary with a 181.0kg effort.

Team Nigeria had already won three golds thanks to Roland Ezuruike, Esther Oyema and Ndidi Nwosu who all emerged champions in their various categories.

Ezuruike won in the men’s lightweight final, Oyema won in the women’s lightweight final while Nwosu earned gold in the women’s heavyweight class.

And with Paul Kehinde and Lucy Kehinde each winning silver medals in the para-powerlifting events, plus silver medals won in Shot Put and Table Tennis,Team Nigeria are with four gold and four silver medals so far at the XXI edition of the Commonwealth Games.​
