1. IPOB will cease to exist if an Igbo president emerges in 2023 —Ohanaeze

The Ohanaeze Youth Council Worldwide Thursday declared that it had begun consultation with other geopolitical zones in the country with a view to producing a President of Igbo extraction in 2023. The Igbo youth group also declared that agitations by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other pro-Biafra agitators in recent times would end should a Nigerian of Igbo extraction become President immediately after President Muhammadu Buhari.

2. Gov Ihedioha orders Okorocha’s ‘arrest’

The faceoff between the immediate past Governor of Imo State and incumbent Governor Emeka Ihedioha assumed a new twist on Thursday as the state government ordered a citizens’ arrest against him. Okorocha, a serving senator was alleged to have ordered assault on a government official, Mr Jasper Ndubuaku, who is the chairman of the state government’s property recovery committee and Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters.

3. You’ve been reduced to a leper after Buhari abandoned you, Shehu Sani fires back at El’ Rufai

Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani has reacted to a comment credited to the governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, who on Thursday said Sani had been reduced to a mere “blogger” since his defeat in the last general elections. In his reaction, Sani, the immediate past senator representing Kaduna Central, said El-Rufai has been reduced from “dwarf” to a leper after being abandoned by President Muhammad Buhari and his men.

The review notes that in 2009, after 4 years of beginning business in Nigeria, 9mobile, while still trading as Etisalat, got $1.2 billion loans from 13 Nigerian banks. After a long period of battling to pay the loan, they called it quits with the Nigerian entity trading as Etisalat Nigeria and considered immediate rebranding which birthed the name 9mobile.

The review reveals that 9mobile has already applied for a $230 million loan in order to reposition the firm. However, the review notes that unless the management reviews terms and redesigns a framework that will sufficiently reposition the brand, they will always depend on loans from time to time.

5. Army kills Boko Haram fighters trying to plant IEDs

Two Boko Haram fighters have been shot dead by troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Halaka Dodo, a sub-exercise of the Operation Lafiya Dole. The insurgents, according to the Army were shot dead while trying to plant Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) for commuters in the Wala area of Borno State.

6. OPC may become a political party ‘in few months’ —Gani Adams

National coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Iba Gani Adams, has said that the group may go into partisan politics. This, according to Adams, was to liberate the Yoruba nation from the shackles of poverty, oppression and other injustices that they had suffered over the years.

7. KOGI: Melaye denies eyeing deputy governor ticket

Senator Dino Melaye on Thursday denied reports that he was eyeing the deputy governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State. Melaye, a serving Senator representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, is one of the most visible aspirants on the platform of the PDP but has been rumoured to be eyeing a joint ticket with a former governor of the state, Captain Idris Wada.

8. KATSINA: Masari wants to meet, dialogue with bandits at their hideout

Katsina State governor, Aminu Masari, on Thursday, declared his readiness to meet with bandits terrorizing the state at their hideout for dialogue in order to ensure that peace reigned in the state. The governor had already ordered the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Mr Mustapha Inuwa, to arrange the meeting alongside some security chiefs.

9. TARABA KILLING: IGP orders special security attention for clergies, places of worship

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Adamu,, has ordered special security attention for the clergy and places of worship across the country. The IGP gave the order in reaction to the gruesome murder of a Catholic priest, Rev Father David Tanko in Taraba State on Thursday.

10. Falconets beat Cameroon on penalties to win gold at African Games

The Falconets of Nigeria have emerged champions of the women’s football event at the ongoing 12th All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco. The national U-20 girls defeated their Cameroonian counterparts 3-2 on penalties in the final, on Thursday night, to win gold.
