The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to use Kogi and Bayelsa elections to demonstrate its commitment to free, fair and credible election without being influenced or manipulated. The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, made the call in a statement issued in Abuja. He also reacted to INEC’s deployment of extra National Commissioners and Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), from other states, to Kogi and Bayelsa for the November 16 governorship elections in the two states. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has restated its position that lands in the South East region would not be given to herders under the controversial Ruga settlement initiative. In a statement on Monday, IPOB declared that it won’t allow Fulani herders under the auspices of Miyetti Allah associations in the South East. The group vowed to resist the movement of herdsmen and their cattle across the region. 6. Court orders interim forfeiture of ex-PPMC chief’s N2.4bn to Nigerian government

Justice O. A. Adeniyi of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday ordered the interim forfeiture of N2, 417, 037, 404  belonging to a former Managing Director of the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), Haruna Momoh, to the Federal Government. The Spokesperson of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Rasheedat Okoduwa, who disclosed this to journalists, said the Commission has started moves to seize the funds permanently alongside some landed properties linked to the ex-PPMC chief.
