2019: We promise credible, free and fair election- Presidency
The Presidency Monday assured Nigerians and the international community that the 2019 general elections would be free and fair, while also attributing the credibility of the 2015 general election to the then chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.
Shehu’s statement was in reaction to a reported United Nation’s prediction that 2019 elections in Nigeria would be credible and violence-free.
He described the prediction as yet another proof of the world’s confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

A United Nations representative was said to have made the prediction during an interview with Channels TV.
Shehu said, “The Buhari government doesn’t believe in cheap propaganda.
“It is not about responding to the attacks, false allegations, and insinuations of the PDP or of the still very active media machinery of the previous government.
“We believe in taking active steps to ensure that the future of Nigeria is better than it is today and we are glad to see that the United Nations has acknowledged this.
“Under the government of President Buhari, a number of credible elections have been conducted in states and local governments across Nigeria and, so far, there has been no cause for fear or worry.”

If this government had won the 2015 election through credible, free and fair election, I’d have admitted this to be a possible promise, but nah… I can’t believe anything from this government. It’s toxic.

Actually, this an indirect admission that the last election was rigged! If it wasn’t they presidency won’t be here discussing about how to have free and fair election but how to continue the process

Nigeria’s election in this decade cannot be close to free, fair and credible, manipulation cannot just be removed from our system that easily. This promise cannot come to pass, Nigerians should just know the regular rig will come up again in 2019.

Why are you so pessimistic about this country? I believe in this government, it can rewrite the history of Nigerian election, make it credible, free and fair
