$22.7BN LOAN: Buhari meets with Gbajabiamila behind closed doors

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met with the House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, at the State House behind closed doors.

The details of the meeting were not made public but there are speculations it may not be unconnected with the $22.7 billion foreign loan Buhari was seeking the approval of the National Assembly for.

The Senate recently approved the fund, but the House of Representatives was yet to give their approval.

Currently, federal lawmakers from the South-East are protesting against approval of the loan over alleged marginalisation of their region for projects to be funded with part of the loan.

Another issue Buhari is supposed to have discussed with the Speaker was how the All Progressives Congress (APC) would resolve the ongoing crisis in the party.

The party has fixed its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for Tuesday, March 17, to decide the fate of its embattled National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
