Over 30 slaughtered, three villages burnt in Taraba

Over 30 persons were reported to have been killed and several others injured in early morning attacks carried out by suspected militiamen in three villages in Lau Local Government area of Taraba State on Saturday.

The attacks, Sunday Telegraph learnt, was launched at about 6 am at Katibu, Babagasa and Donado villages all in Lau Local Government, resulting to killing of over 30people including women and children.

A resident of Katibu, one of the villages attacked who said he narrowly escaped death, Mallam Bello Isa, told Sunday Telegraph reporter that many people in his village were killed and houses set ablaze.

He said the villagers woke up early in the morning and were faced with sporadic gunshots and burning of houses by militiamen suspected to have invaded the village from neighboring Adamawa State.
