Adamawa gov, Fintiri, demotes perm secs, moves to phase out office of dep perm secs
An unspecified number of Permanent Secretaries have been demoted with immediate effect following a directive issued on Wednesday by the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Governor Fintiri made the decision when he received the report of the Technical Committee for evaluation of Civil Service Scheme in the state in Yola.
“All Permanent Secretaries who were not on level 17 before their appointments are hereby dropped.
“Government will also gradually phase out the office of Deputy Permanent Secretaries, as the office is not enshrined in the scheme of Civil Service,” Fintiri was quoted as having said.

He also expressed worry that the civil service scheme in the state had been bastardised to favour a few; adding that his administration would do all it could to restore the glory of the scheme.
Governor Fintiri’s directive comes a day after he presented a budget amounting to the total sum of N183, 360,699,485 as the 2020 annual budget proposal to the Adamawa State House of Assembly.
The governor tabled the proposal before the Assembly on Tuesday, naming it as Budget of Rebirth, resting on the focus of fostering economic growth with laudable projects.
The proposed budget by Governor Fintiri estimates, 47% to finance recurrent commitments while 53% will service capital projects.
