Akwa Ibom govt confirms discharge of 3 COVID-19 patients

The Akwa Ibom State government said on Wednesday that three out of the five coronavirus patients in the state had been discharged after recovering from the disease.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong, who disclosed this to journalists in Uyo, said the patients who were treated at the Ibom Specialist Hospital were discharged after testing negative for the disease.

The commissioner added that a suspected coronavirus case who had tested negative for the disease would also be discharged from hospital.

Ukpong said: “Altogether we had nine persons in the isolation unit, the three patients that were discharged today were among the initial five index cases. Others were suspected cases whose test results came out negative.

“Akwa Ibom State now has three confirmed cases, two from the initial five index cases, and one case as announced by the NCDC last night.”
