The order against the leader of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami party, which opposed the war for independence from Pakistan was passed by the Supreme Court in Bangladesh on Thursday against Nizami who has exhausted all legal options and only a presidential pardon could now save him.
It could be recalled that the Supreme Court in January upheld the death penalty for Nizami on convictions of genocide, rape and orchestrating the massacre of top intellectuals during the war.
