It was a bad weekend for Joel Obi and Efe Ambrose, after being red carded while in action for their respective clubs at the weekend.

Obi who is trying to revive his career with Torino was given a straight red card in the 89th minute after an awkward challenge on Palermo player.

However, Torino still managed to beat their visitors 2-1. Ambrose was not lucky as he was also sent off in the final minute of Celtic’s goalless draw with Juwon Oshaniwa’s Hearts in a Scottish league match on Saturday. Oshaniwa was also shown a yellow card.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Emenike, who is on loan at Al Ain, hit target in the 65th minute for his UAE team in their 2-1 loss to Al Wahda. The striker has now scored three league goals for his side in the Arabia Gulf League.

Erstwhile Eagles star, Bartholomew Ogbeche, is one of the players outside the mainstream of the national team who were on target at the weekend. A brace from the Nigerian helped Cambuur earn a share of the spoils against Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivisie as the match ended 3-3. Another ex-Eagles star, Obinna Nsofor, proved that he could resurrect his career as he scored his first goal for German Bundesliga 2 side, Duisburg, in Saturday’s 3-2 loss at Union Berlin. He pounced on a pass in the 56th minute to bring the score line to 3-1. Ex-Nigeria U20 captain Abdul Jeleel Ajagun was Panathinaikos’ hero on Sunday as he scored the only goal to earn his team all three points against Platanias.
