The preferred governorship candidate of Ibikunle Amosun, Ogun state governor, Abdulkabir Akinlade has decamped from the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) alongside two other House of Representatives members while the Peoples Democratic Party lost a lawmaker.

This is even as Ogun State chapter of the APC also lost four of its members in the state House of Assembly to Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Federal lawmakers who defected are Rabi’u Kaugama (Jigawa State), Mohammed Ajalah (Kogi State) and Salisu Koko (Kebbi State).

Akinlade moved to the APM, Kaugama and Salisu defected to Social Democratic Party while Ajalah returned to the PDP.

The Ogun state APC had recognised Mr Dapo Abiodun as its governorship candidate.

The former Ogun APC members are the Majority Leader, Idowu Olowofuja (Abeokuta South II); Mr . Adeyinka Mafe (Sagamu 1); the Chief Whip, Ganiyu Oyedeji (Ifo II); and Tunde Sanusi (Obafemi Owode).

The four members dumped the ruling party on Thursday in separate letters read out by the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Suraj Adekunbi, during the House plenary in Abeokuta.

According to the letters, injustice by APC during its primaries was part of reasons the lawmakers said made them to dump APC.

They added they resolved to ditch the party after due consultations with their constituents and supporters.

Meanwhile, the Chief Whip said that in spite leaving APC, he would still support President Muhammadu Buhari’s re- election and would continue to support Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun.

The Speaker after reading the letters wished them well.

APC has continued to suffer membership loss following the outcome of its recent primaries that saw its national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, being accused by some party members of allegedly compromising the process.

The defection in Ogun Assembly came just as the party also lose three of its members at the House of Representatives this Thursday.
