APC clears Kano Senate seats as Shekarau wins Kano Central

A former governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has been declared as the winner of the Kano Central senatorial seat by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Shekarau’s victory completes the total victory of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the three available senatorial seats in the state.

According to the returning officer for the senatorial district on Monday, Prof. Adamu Alhaji-Samaila, Shekarau scored 506, 271 votes to defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Aliyu Sani-Madawakingini, who polled 276, 768 votes.

Earlier, the electoral confirmed the victory of two incumbent incumbent APC senators, Kabiru Gaya representing Kano South Senatorial District and Sen. Barau Jibril-Maliya who is representing Kano North Senatorial District.
