Imo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Hope Uzodinma, has allegedly been arrested over the failure of his company to execute a contract of $12 million for the dredging of Calabar channel.

The Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Property made this known to newsmen on Sunday, explaining that he was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The arrest of Uzodinma, a serving senator representing Imo West senatorial district, was made public by the chairman of the panel, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla.

Nigerian Ports Authority awarded the contract to Uzodinma. But after he alleged failure to execute it, he was dragged to court.

Report had recently claimed that court ruling ordered a warrant of arrest on the senator, which the lawmaker later debunked.

But Obono-Obla, in his message about Uzodinma’s arrest claimed that the APC governorship candidate has been evading arrest for about a year. He added that he was arrested at about 8.20pm.
