BAYELSA: Police, DSS now occupy APC secretariat over lingering crisis

The All Progressive Congress, APC, Monday called on the Independent National Electoral Commision, INEC, to cancel last Saturday rerun election in the 23 local government areas of the state and conduct a fresh one.

The APC hinged its call on the fact that the rerun election was characterised by violence.

The party made the call on Monday evening at the state secretariat of the APC when its chaieman, Dr Davies Ikanya addressed the media.

According to Ikanya, the Police connived with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to manipulate the exercise.

Ikanya, who was with the running mate of Dr Dakuku Peterside in the 2015 governorship election, Mr Honourable Asita and other state executives of the party, alleged that the election was a sham.

The state APC boss also denied allegations by Governor Nyesom Wike that leaders of the APC  stormed Mile 1 Police station on Sunday to influence the result of PHALGA, adding that it was thw PDP that allegedly made effort to tinker with the result.

Ikanya also insisted that what happened at UTC junction on Azikiwe road in Port Harcourt, was a  clear attempt to assasinate the governorship candidate of his party, Dr Dakuku Peterside, adding that he was in the vehicle when the Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief Emeka Woke and his team allegedly opened fire on their vehicle with alleged intention to assasinate them.
