The recent reinstatement of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Danjuma, an officer indicted in the extra-judicial gruesome killing of five young auto spare parts traders and a young woman on June 7, 2005, in Apo township, a satellite settlement at the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, has drawn the anger of Igbo group, Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF), which said that the action by the Police Service Commission could divide Nigeria.

The victims, Ekene Isaac Mgbe, Ifeanyi Ozor, Chinedu Meniru, Paulinus Ogbonna, Anthony Nwokike, and Augustina Arebu, were returning from a nightclub when they were stopped at a police checkpoint and extra- judicially murdered by a contingent of policemen led by Danjuma.

The Secretary General of ADF, an Igbo pressure group, Professor Nathaniel Aniekwu in his reaction to the news of the reinstatement of DSP Ibrahim Danjuma and payment of his salary arrears by the police authority; said that he was not shocked or surprised at the news.
