World number one, Novak Djokovic has sealed his place in the final of the 2019 Australian Open after cruising past Lucas Pouille in a one-sided semi-final match.

31-year-old Djokovic outclassed 24-year-old Frenchman Pouille 6-0 6-2 6-2 in one hour and 23 minutes in Melbourne.

The final of the Men’s Singles will now be between Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, who already sealed his spot in the final after seeing off Greek wonder, one hour and 23 minutes.

“It is definitely one of the best matches I’ve ever had on this court.

“Everything worked how I imagined it before the match – it was a tough one for Lucas,” said 14-time Grand Slam winner, Djokovic.

Serb Djokovic and Spaniard Nadal – who have 31 Grand Slams titles between them – will meet on Sunday.

While Djokovic is aiming for a record seventh Australian Open crown, Nadal could become the first man to claim a second career Grand Slam in the Open era.

Ahead of the match with Nadal, the Serb said: “I would definitely want to buy a ticket for that match. We have slightly different rules this year, with super tie-breaks, so I don’t think we’ll go six hours almost.

“That’s a once in a lifetime experience. Hopefully the outcome can be the same for me.”

The pair met in the final of the 2012 edition, which went on for five hours and 53 minutes. Djokovic eventually won 5-7 6-4 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 7-5.
