Protesters on Monday reportedly invaded the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) along Jang Road in Benue State.

A group believed to be supporters of the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ), George Akume accused INEC of purported manipulation of results against the senator for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Orker Jev.

Another group who were supporting the PDP’s candidate also invaded the INEC office having perceived the intention of the commission to declare Akume the winner of the senatorial district.

It, however, took the timely intervention of soldiers to resist them from storming the collation center where results were being collated.

INEC had already declared Gabriel Suswam and Abba Moro of the PDP as winners of the other two senatorial districts.

Solders blocked the two entrances of the INEC office to stop the protesters from gaining access to the collation centre.
