Boko Haram gave teenage suicide bombers N200 to detonate bombs

The story of 18-year-old bomber, Amina, who was given N200 and sent on a suicide mission by Boko Haram, seems to have proffered explanations into how little children are brainwashed into carrying out the ungodly act.

Amina, who was captured by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday in Maiduguri while on a suicide mission, disclosed that the sect members abducted her two years ago in her village in Madagali, Adamawa into Sambisa forest.

She explained that before embarking on the deadly mission, the sect members handed her and another teenager, Zainab, N200 each to use and buy food and then transported them in a three day ride to Maiduguri with instructions to detonate their explosives anywhere people are gathered.

According to Amina, Boko Haram told them that once they see where people are gathered and press the button, that the bomb will explode and immediately they will see themselves in heaven.

She explained that when she told them that she cannot be able to press the button because she was afraid, they told her that she should not worry because once Zainab detonated her own she and Zainab will go to heaven.

She however said they were captured after they encountered military men on their way to Maiduguri who started shooting at them.

Amina, who also told how they were married off to members of the sect, was captured along Zainab while other Boko Haram members ran away.

According to the NSCDC Commandant in Borno State, Abdullahi Ibrahim, the suspects have been sent to the Garrison Commander, 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri for thorough investigation.
