Boston bomber apologises, gets death sentence

For the first time since his trial for the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing which killed a number of people and left many more injured, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on Wednesday apologised for his action.

Addressing the court in death sentencing, he said, “I would like to now apologize to the victims and to the survivors,” he said. “I am sorry for the lives I have taken, for the suffering, the damage that I have done.”

Earlier, families of the victims and survivors made victim impact statements, leaving some jurors in attendance in tears.

The judge, George O’Toole formally sentenced Tsarnaev to death.

According to O’Toole, “Whenever your name is mentioned, what will be remembered is the evil you did. What will be remembered is you murdered and maimed innocent people.”
