BREAKING: The upsurge continues as 667 new cases take Nigeria’s COVID-19 tally beyond the 19,000 mark to 19,147
Nigeria on Friday night recorded 667 fresh COVID-19 cases.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which confirmed this on its Twitter handle, said the fresh cases were recorded in 22 states of the federation and Abuja.
It added that 12 persons died from complications resulting from the virus on Friday.
Consequently, the number of COVID-19 fatalities increased from 475 to 487.
Also, the total number of confirmed cases increased to 19,147.
Meanwhile, 6,581 patients had been discharged from various isolation facilities across the country as at Friday night.
The breakdown of the figure on a state-by-state basis revealed the following: Lagos (281), Abia (48), Oyo (45), FCT (38), Ogun (37), Enugu (31), Ondo (23), Plateau (21), Edo (19), Delta (18), Rivers (18), Bayelsa (17) and Akwa Ibom (17).
Others are – Kaduna (14), Kano (12), Bauchi (9), Gombe (4), Osun (3), Benue (3), Nasarawa (3), Kwara (3), Ekiti (2), and Borno (1).
The NCDC said: “19,147 cases of #COVID-19 in Nigeria.
“Discharged: 6,581 AND Deaths: 487.”
