Buhari in secret meeting with Dogara, Tambuwal

Published

on

House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara and Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal on Tuesday had a secret meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House, and Dogara arrived at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa in one vehicle and spent about an hour in the President’s office.

Already insinuations are ripe that their visit may not be unconnected with some of the pressing issues like the persisting budget padding palaver in the House, the call by the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, for the resignation of the national chairman and the sale of national assets.

However, when the two of them were approached by journalists after the meeting, they avoided divulging the purpose for the meeting. While Tambuwal dodged most of the questions from the journalists, Dogara kept mute.

Asked if the meeting was to discuss House of Representatives issue, Tambuwal had replied, “Not at all.”

He also answered, “I have already aired my views on the sale of assets,” when he was asked if it had to do with the recession and sale of assets.

Tambuwal went further to say, “I don’t know about that”, when he was asked if the meeting had anything to do with the National Leader of the APC, Tinubu’s call for the resignation of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as the party National Chairman.

According to Tambuwal, they were at the Presidential Villa to give President Buhari support.
