Buhari speaks with Super Eagles before Croatia clash

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) reaffirmed his support for the Super Eagles by speaking over the phone with the team moments before they face Croatia on Saturday.

The men’s national team will kick off their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign against the Croats at the Kaliningrad Stadium in Russia in less than an hour.

“President @MBuhari spoke with the @NGSuperEagles this evening, ahead of their opening World Cup match against Croatia; and assured them of the full support of the nation. #SoarSuperEagles #Russia2018WorldCup,” the Presidency’s official account tweeted by 7p.m on Saturday.

President Buhari then replied from his personal account with a good luck message.

“180 million Nigerians have looked forward to today with great excitement. On behalf of all, I wish the Super Eagles the best of luck, as they display the gallant Nigerian spirit that sets us apart,” he tweeted.

The game kicks off by 8:00p.m (Nigerian time).
