Court summons executives of Lagos NUJ over disregard of order
The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) in Lagos on Thursday ordered executive and non-executive members of the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) to appear before it.
Justice R. Gwandu who gave the order said Ekene Adeola, the Registered Trustees of the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ, Ifeyinwa Omole, Ladi Bala, Mrs Abiola Beckley and Mrs Yemisi Adeniran, should appear before the court on June 10, 2019.
Their summon, according to the court, is connected to their involvement in the disregard of a court order stopping last Thursday’s National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) (Lagos Chapter) 2019 election in Lagos.
The court maintained that failure to do so would put them in contempt.
