Court validates Ganduje’s election

A Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna on Friday upheld the election of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The Chairman of the three-member panel, Justice Halima Shamaki, in his judgment dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Abba Yusuf.

After dismissing the appeal seeking the nullification of Ganduje’s victory in the March 9 governorship election in the state, Justice Shamaki held that the petitioner failed to declare the real results of the election by tendering the certified true copies of the results.

The appellate court in a unanimous judgement delivered by a five-man panel also dismissed the 24 grounds of appeal filed by the PDP and its candidate, Abba Yusuf.

The state election petition tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition against Ganduje for lack of merit.
