Drinking of palm oil can’t stop spread of COVID-19 —NCDC

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday dismissed as misleading and false the claim that palm oil is capable of stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Some Nigerians had last weekend claimed that palm oil was an effective antidote to the disease that had infected more than three million people and infected 228, 000 others across the globe.

The centre, which reacted to the claim on its Twitter handle, described it as false and urged Nigerians to adhere only to guidelines from health authorities.

It said: “The claim that drinking of palm oil can stop the spread of #COVID-19 is FALSE

“To protect yourselves and loved ones from #COVID-19. Please adhere to guidance from public health authorities and avoid the spread of false information.”
