D'Tigers lose AfroBasket title to Tunisia

Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, failed to defend their AfroBasket title after losing 65-77 points to Tunisia in the final of the 2017 FIBA AfroBasket on Saturday night.

The Nigerian men could only win one out of the four quarters to pave way for the new African champions.

D’Tigers took the lead in the first quarter with 14-8 points but failed to maintain the tempo in the second quarter as the Tunisians won 17-10 points to boost their morale for the last two quarters.

The co-hosts then gained more advantage that saw them lead the third quarter with a commendable 27-16 points, and came out on top after the last quarter despite a 25-25 points tie.

D’Tigers, who won all on but one group game on their way to the final, have now lost the title they won in 2015 to Tunisia.
