D'Tigers lose again at Commonwealth Games

After beginning their campaign with a defeat to New Zealand at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Australia, Nigeria’s senior basketball team, D’Tigers, have been defeated again, by Canada, in the men’s basketball event.

The Nigerian men, led by coach Alexander Nwora, lost 82-67 to the North Americans in the men’s preliminary round Pool A played on Saturday.

Nigeria started poorly in the encounter as they lost 23-16 in the first quarter.

The 2017 AfroBasket runners-up then bounced back to win the second and third quarters narrowly 21-20 and 15-14.

But the efforts were not enough to get back in the game, even as they went on to lose in the final quarter 25-15.

The Nigeria side will face hosts Australia in their final group game next Tuesday.
