D’Tigress to battle USA, Serbia, Mozambique in 2020 Olympics Qualifiers

Nigeria’s D’Tigress have been drawn in Group A of the Olympics Qualifying Tournament, to face World Number One, United State of America, Serbia and Mozambique.

D’Tigress will play in Belgrade as the African champions look to earn a ticket to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The draw ceremony held in Switzerland today (Wednesday) to officially kick start the Olympics Tournament qualification race.

The last time Nigeria met USA was at the quarter finals of the FIBA Women’s World Cup in Spain where the D’Tigress lost 41-70 points against the team that later went on to win the trophy.

D’Tigress last qualification for the Olympics was in 2004. A total of 10 teams will join USA (World Champions) and host- Japan from the OQT to be played between 6th and 9th of February, 2020 across four countries- China, Serbia, France and Belgium.

The national men’s team, D’Tigers have already secured their place in the men’s category of the Tokyo competition.
