A Resident Electoral Commission, REC, with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr. Sylvester Ezeani, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

He is being held for allegedly collecting N20 million as bribe to influence the outcome of the 2015 presidential election in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Ezeani, who was detained on Teusday, is the Abia State REC but was deployed to Cross River State for the conduct of the election.

The N20 million allegedly collected by Ezeani is part of the N241 million said to have been released to the state out of the reported $115 million election bribe money allegedly coordinated by former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Deziani Alison-Madueke and deposited with Fidelity Bank Plc.
