Ekiti Senator kidnapped, abductors demand N80m ransom

Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped former Nigerian Senator representing Ekiti State, Sylvester Ayodele Arise who was on a journey from Akure to the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.

Reports say the gunmen who abducted the US-trained economist, who represented Ekiti North in the National Assembly under the banner of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) between 2007 and 2011, have reached out to the family of the Senator demanding N80 million ransom.

The Senator who defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) shortly before the Governorship elections that ousted former Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi in 2015, was said to have attended some events over the weekend in Ado Ekiti, the state capital and Ikere Ekiti on Saturday.

He also took part in a golf knock around with friends on Sunday at the Ado Ekiti Golf Club along Poly Road, Ado Ekiti before he was abducted.
