Ekiti varsity graduates first set of doctors 10 years after being admitted

The Ekiti State University College of Medicine finally graduated students after spending 10 years on the course due to the school’s failure to gain accreditation.

The graduation followed the release of the results of the final examination conducted for the medical students.

A statement by EKSU Head, Directorate of Information, Bode Olofinmuagun, on Sunday said their graduation followed a recent visit to EKSU by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and consequent five-year approval for the accreditation of the medical programme.

Olofinmuagun said, “The released result indicated 100 per cent pass as all the 43 students presented passed with one distinction.

“With this development, the medical students are to be fully inducted into the medical profession in a few days.”

According to him, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olubunmi Ajayi, has congratulated the first set of medical doctors to be produced by the university.
