Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State and the Fulani herdsmen have reached an agreement to co-exist in peace and harmony.

Before the peace agreement, there was tensed situation in the after a Fulani herdsman cut off the hand of an indigene of Afor Ugwu Aguobu Owa over a disagreement with a machete.

According to Ifeanyi Anyanwu, Programme Officer Cleen Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that initiated the peace pact, he said the group noticed clashes between the Fulani herdsmen and host communities and resolved to intervene through the workshop on conflict management and prevention.

The South-East Zonal Chairman of Miyetti Allah, Sarki Gidado Sadiq, during the peace agreement meeting blamed the conflict between herdsmen and their host communities on mutual suspicion.

For the traditional ruler of Ogwofia Owa, Igwe Tom Inyama, who spoke for his community, “It takes two to make peace.” He added that any peace pact reach at without taking into consideration the interests of the two parties, would be meaningless.
