English premier League side, Everton FC have announced the sacking of the team’s manager, Ronald Koeman, after a humiliating 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

The result, which meant the Toffees are without a win in five games in all competitions, took them into the relegation zone on 18th position on the table.

“Everton Football Club can confirm that Ronald Koeman has left the Club,” a statement on the club’s website read.

54-year-old Koeman guided Everton to seventh place in his first season in charge last term, but have only picked one point from three in the UEFA Europa League.

The Dutchman becomes the third Premier League managerial casualty of the season after Frank de Boer left Crystal Palace and Craig Shakespeare was sacked by Leicester.

The club also added that they “would all like to express their gratitude to Ronald for the service he has given to the Club over the past 16 months and for guiding the Club to seventh place in last season’s Premier League campaign.”
