FIFA RANKING: Nigeria maintain 41st spot; Egypt, Cameroon make moves

In the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking released Thursday, the Super Eagles of Nigeria retained their 41st position as the Pharaohs of Egypt and Indomitable Lions of Cameroon made progress.

In Africa, the Super Eagles also did not make any movement as they remained seventh.

The rankings which was published on FIFA’s official website saw the Egyptian national team jump to the 20th place moving up three positions from last month’s rankings. Senegal remained second in Africa but moved up three positions in the world ranking and are now ranked 28th followed by Super Eagles 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying opponents and reigning African champions, Cameroon, who only moved up one spot to sit in the 32nd position.

Burkina Faso are the fourth best African team and are currently in the 36th position worldwide, replacing Tunisia who dropped down one position.

The Super Eagles two other World Cup qualifying group opponents, Algeria and Zambia are currently 50th and 90th respectively, as Algeria retained their position from last month’s rankings and Zambia moved up one spot.

South Africa, Seychelles and Libya – Nigeria’s group opponents in 2019 AFCON qualifiers – also didn’t make any significant change. South Africa and Libya maintained their 62nd and 92nd positions respectively, while Seychelles dropped to 187.

However, there were no changes in the top 10 positions in the world rankings as Argentina (1st) Brazil (2nd) Germany(3rd) Chile (4th) Belgium(5th) France(6th) Colombia(7th) Portugal(8th) Uruguay(9th) and Spain(10th) all remained unchanged.
